Group Link

Author: Katie Martinez
Date: September 13th, 2009

Small groups at Crossroads are a great place to meet new people, make friends, grow in faith and have fun.

One of the reasons we come to church is to make friends– to connect with people who share our values, our struggles and our faith in God. God hard-wires us for genuine community.

The Group Link Event

We realize Crossroads is a big church. It’s hard to meet people and form friendships at weekend services alone. Crossroads groups exist to help us get connected, stay connected and grow in faith with others. Group link is a two-weekend event designed to help us get connected in small groups.

When is it?

Group Link will take place two weekends in October, in the Crossroads atrium, before and after every service.

  • October 17-18

How do I get involved?

Visit the Group Link tables in the atrium. Pick up information, visit with group leaders and…  sign up. There are 3 types of groups launching this fall:

  • Growth groups meet 2-4 times/per month on an ongoing basis. They involve: friendship building, mutual support, bible study, discussions, prayer and fun events.
  • Bistro groups (formerly called Table Talk) will meet just 3 times between October 19 and Thanksgiving in host homes. These short-term dinner groups serve as an easy place to meet new people.
  • Support groups are constantly launching and adding new people. They exist to help us thrive in the midst of life’s most difficult circumstances.

Pre-Marriage Class

Author: Katie Martinez
Date: September 12th, 2009

Crossroads Church is all about relationships. Whether you’re single, married, divorced, engaged or dating, God wants you to be in, an grow into, healthy relationships.

Experience the 2-part pre-marriage intensive

Since marriage is one of the most significant and complex relationships we experience as human beings, our Crossroads pastors encourage all couples considering marriage to take this pre-marriage class. In fact, if  you ask a Crossroads pastor to marry you, he or she will explain that we require pre-marital counseling, and… we’ll encourage you to take Gary Emery’s 2-part pre-marriage intensive. Gary Emory is a professional Christian counselor.

Your Next Steps?

  • The next 2-part class is offered Friday, October 2, 7-9pm and Saturday, October 3, 8:30am-5:30pm, Room YB3 (east building). Recommended by Crossroads pastors for engaged and dating couples.
  • Class meets in room YB3 (east building) at Crossroads.
  • Sign up at Information Central. You can also call or email the Crossroads office, office@crossroadscolorado.com.
  • There is no childcare at this event.

Bistro Groups

Author: Katie Martinez
Date: September 12th, 2009

Care to take a step and meet some new friends at Crossroads? Bistro Groups are a fun, low-key way to meet new people, enjoy good food and (maybe even) make new friends.

Host or Join a Bistro Group

We realize it’s easy to come and go from weekend services– even linger around for coffee in the atrium– and still feel disconnected. In a bistro group, you’ll hang out and eat with the same group on three evenings this fall. It’s a great way to get connected at Crossroads. If you would like to host a Bistro Group, please email bistro@crossroadscolorado.com

Who can come?

Any adult who wants to get connected with others at Crossroads. There will be singles, couples, men’s, women’s and mixed groups offered. There will be young adult groups, senior adult groups, mixed age groups and everything in between. Children are welcome in several of the groups.

Details and next steps…

  • Bistro groups meet a total of three fall evenings, beginning the week of October 19 and ending before Thanksgiving.
  • We meet in participant homes– the same or different homes depending on the number of willing hosts.
  • Are you willing to host in your home? Email bistro@crossroadscolorado.com, or leave a reply right here on this web page.
  • Want to participate? Sign up at Group Link following each service October 3-4 and 10-11.

Divorce Care for Kids

DC4K is a special group to help your children 5-12 heal from the pain caused by a separation or divorce. DC4K provides your children with a safe and neutral place to recognize and learn to share their feelings. Children and parent groups meet at the same time.

For 13 weeks your children become involved in a fun, caring group at Crossroads. The weekly session topics help your children learn that God’s love strengthens them and helps them turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy.

P.A.C.E.

Author: Tim Peterson
Date: September 12th, 2008

PACE (Post Abortion Counseling Education) groups offer a confidential 11-week Bible study to help women and men deal with the emotions related to an abortion in their past. The study is called Forgiven and Set Free by Linda Cochran and is co-led by trained, compassionate lay-counselors. This group is a safe place to share your pain, deal with grief issues, experience forgiveness and successfully cope with on-going issues related to abortion.

How can I get involved?

  • Groups are starting constantly and meet from 7-9 p.m. weekly.
  • Women, contact Linda, 970.310.6480 or linda-pace@comcast.net for more information.
  • Men, contact Royal at 970.214.1033.

What can I expect?

  • When you call Linda or Rich, you can set up a confidential one-on-one meeting with a P.A.C.E. leader to learn about the study, ask questions and express your options for a week-night to meet (Monday – Thursday).
  • Groups meet in a confidential location in Loveland and Fort Collins.
  • Groups are made of 2-7 people and trained co-leaders who are also post-abortive.

It is believed that 43% of women have experienced an abortion. If you are struggling with negative emotions connected to abortion, or you’re not quite sure, consider joining a PACE group.
