Class Schedule and Descriptions
Boundaries is an 8-week class beginning January 7, 2010
A boundary is a personal property line that defines those things for which we are responsible. Boundaries define who we are and who we are not. Clear boundaries are essential to physical health as well as personal and spiritual formation. Learn: how loving people set limits; the nature of legitimate boundaries; how to respond to those who challenge your boundaries; how to discern between selfishness and true boundary; deal with guilt or fear about keeping boundaries.
Safe People is a 10-week class starting March 4, 2010.
Have you been involved with the wrong people? Or made the same relationship mistake more than once? The Safe People class offers solutions for this dynamic and dilemma. Cloud and Townsend will walk you through frank, soul-searching questions and offer you practical steps for change and growth. Learn to identify the nurturing people we all need in our lives. Topics: Correct things in yourself that hinder your relational security; learn the twenty traits of unsafe people; recognize trustworthy people; get out of unhealthy relationships; form positive relationships.
Hiding from Love is a 12-week class starting March 4, 2010.
When we experience emotional injury, fear, shame or pride we may try to hide the hurting parts of ourselves from God and others– even ourselves. We learn these hiding patterns in childhood, because they protect us from real threats. As adults, or emerging adults, we tend to cling to these patterns, and this leads to isolation from the very things we need for healing and maturity. What began as protection, becomes our personal prison. This class helps you explore your tendency to hide and moves you, through healing grace, to the truth God offers in safe connections with God and others. You’ll learn: the difference between good and bad hiding; why you hide your broken parts from the God who heals; freedom to try and fail; how to live into the joy and completeness God intends as you bond with others.
Changes that Heal is a 10-week class offered next in Fall of 2010
Learn how to understand your past and ensure a healthier future. In this life-changing, DVD-driven class, Dr. Henry Cloud takes us, step-by-step, through the four basic tasks of becoming mature image bearers of God: Bonding to others, separating from others, sorting out good and bad in ourselves and others and becoming an adult. Not only will you learn and practice these steps, you will also learn how to overcome problems in your life that naturally result when we fail to accomplish these critical tasks. Together, we will make life-changes and experience healing.
