Crossroads has partnered with World Relief in Haiti to provide clean, safe water in areas that currently don’t have it. Plans include: wells in Jacmal and Leogane and possibly more wells in Port-Au-Prince. Each well costs approximately $6,000.
Crossroads People Took the Challenge
We challenged every person who considers Crossroads their church home to contribute $20, with a goal of raising $60,000. We called this the one-for-one challenge, because just $20 buys clean water for one person for 20 years. We also asked people to add more meaning to the experience:
- Fill a bucket with water and carry it for a mile. Take your kids, and have them carry a bucket as well. Talk about the 200 million women and children who do this 3 times each day.
- Set a cup of dirty water by the kitchen faucet. Remember that 1 billion people drink that kind of water every day.
- Eliminate bottled water, sodas and specialty coffees for a week, and donate the money you save to the Crossroads Clean Water Project.
