Project One is: one church on one day making a real difference in one community—ours.
It’s an opportunity for people not to just go to church but to be the church.
Pastor Dennis Anderson, Project One
On one day, in the fall of 2010, thousands of volunteers will meet at Crossroads, gather in teams and disperse to work sites all over northern Colorado.
We all want to help our neighbors in practical ways, and sometimes we don’t know where to start. Together, we’ll help those in our community who are either financially or physically unable to fix, clean up, paint, rebuild, tile, haul off or construct some aspect of their home or non-profit facility.
Saturday, October 9, 2010
- 7am Volunteers meet at Crossroads, gather in crews, then travel to worksites
- 5pm Dinner back at Crossroads
- 6pm The P1 Celebration in the Crossroads auditorium
Who can volunteer?
Project One is for the whole Crossroads family, plus our friends and neighbors all over northern Colorado. We welcome participant volunteers from all generations and abilities– ages 6 through senior adult. Volunteers can register online or in the Crossroads atrium. We ask for a $25 suggested donation to help cover the cost of materials, t-shirts and dinner.
Immediately, we need volunteer crew leaders and site nominations. Download the Project One Site Nomination Form.
5 Ways to Help Now:
1. Nominate a neighbor in need. Do you know someone financially or physically unable to repair or improve some aspect of their home or business? Download the Project One Site Nomination Form, and return it to Info Central in the Crossroads atrium on the weekends, the Crossroads office or by email to p1@crossroadscolorado.com.
2. Volunteer Crew Member. We’ll place you to a work crew with 5-10 others, led by a qualified crew leader who has personally been involved with the resident from the beginning. Over 1300 volunteers will work at over 100 projects sites. Each volunteer receives a Project One t-shirt, dinner and the deep satisfaction of giving a huge dose of encouragement real help to someone in need.
3. Lead a Crew. Are you a good with leading teams, or do you have abilities in painting, carpentry, landscaping or other trades? We need 40 P1 crewleaders. Volunteers contact Kris at crew@crossroadscolorado.com or 970.744.6516 x502.
4. Donate. Local businesses and individuals donate the materials and expertise we need to succeed. Cash donation are critical to the strategy and success of Project One. All businesses who donate supplies are recognized at the Project One Celebration. Though homeowners are encouraged to participate financially, many simply cannot. It will take at least$30,000 in addition to donated supplies to fund Project 1.
5. Sponsor a Project. Would you, your family or your business consider sponsoring a project? For a donation of $300 or more, we will print your company logo (or your name if you prefer) on the Project One shirt, on a large banner that will be displayed in the atrium following P1, and printed in the weekend program (for two weeks following P1). The proposed cash investment for Project One is about $30,000 (not including donated materials). Individual projects cost about $300 each. It’s a great way to show your support of our community. For more information e-mail P1Sponsor@crossroadscolorado.com.
Residents are encouraged to join the crew that comes to work, if they are physically able. They are also invited to attend the dinner and Celebration at the end of the day.
